Davide Malizia

Pastry Chef

David Malizia was born in Rome but he is of a Sicilian origin. He attended the hotel management school, immediately showing a strong passion for the art of sugar and confectionery and so he decided to enhance by working in prestigious hotels in the capital. He attended Italian and foreign schools, including CAST Alimenti, and in 2005 he won the gold medal at the International Championship in Massa Carrara, Italy in the artistic category, the 2006 World Championship of Luxembourg (4 gold medals), the 2008 Stuttgart International Championship (International Cooking Competition INTERGASTRA) and the national prize at the Culinary Trophy. In 2008, he won the gold medal at the Olympics in Erfurt in the artistic pastry category, the only medal achieved by Italy. In 2010, as a member of the Italian team at the World Cup in America (World Pastry Team Championship Phoenix 2010), he won the silver medal. He is a member of AMPI since 2012; in 2013, in Rimini, Italy, he won the World Championship for artistic sugar and the same year, the World Junior Pastry Cup as coach of the Italian team.

In pastry you cannot improvise, you need an intense study on the raw ingredients and a great devotion to technique; a pretty cake that does not taste good is worth zero!
